The Data Validation Feature exploits information available on the USPTO (PAIR and TARR systems), European Registry (EP Online) and Canadian (CIPO) web sites to validate and correct data entered in PATTSY.  Additional sources may be added in the future as useful comparative data is offered by other countries or jurisdictions.  The data validation feature is an excellent risk management tool when used to verify accuracy of existing patent and trademark data.  When used as a data entry tool, this feature will save substantial time especially during initial entry of data into PATTSY or during other high volume events (e.g., subsequent patent or trademark portfolio acquisitions, etc).

SmartLink (see prior page) will attempt to connect an action to the corresponding USPTO document using the action particulars (i.e., date etc.).  "Multi-link" offers another level of control by allowing the user to select any or all documents from a USPTO patent or trademark file-wrapper.  Documents can then be downloaded in batch mode and optionally cross-referenced to the proper corresponding action.

Any document specific to a date based events (e.g., an office action, rejection, etc.) can be easily emailed to responsible individuals after it has been downloaded using the Smart Link or Multi Link tool.  Email recipients can be selected from a list of individuals associated with the case via the user-friendly interface.  If a document has been linked to the action, it will be automatically attached to the email.  This tool is extremely convenient when multiple parties need to be apprised or involved in the disposition of a given action.
